Un espacio de contención entre la historia y la memoria, No, 1, 2 and 3, 2023
, collage on paper, 120 x 80 cm each.

Un espacio de contención entre la historia y la memoria is a series of three collages inspired by my earlier work, Reflexiones  sobre lo impermanente y lo tangible (2021). This series explores how the memories, teachings, and knowledge of our ancestors are passed down through time and space, becoming a part of who we are. In this work, I focus on the connection between personal and collective memory, using the body as a space where these memories and images come together. The body acts as a living record of emotions, sacrifices, relationships, and moments, bringing the past of Afro-Caribbean communities into the present. Through fragments of photographs, documents, and information, I show how memory—both its pieces and its gaps—serves as a guide, helping us understand our lives and our place in the world.
